    Wow great weight loss! Drinking lots of water is a fab idea, although I am terrible for surviving on black coffee 😉 My diet is still going well. Very little left to lose, it will just be maintaining the weight and toning up soon. Will still fast, just might increase my food on feed days a little to compensate. Good luck with yours 🙂

    hi, ive been doing the 5:2 for 9weeks losing a total of 12pounds. the tips are really good and ur quite right, the first few fastings are very hard. plenty of water on fasting days has help me. if i ever got hungry i would have a drink. also around chosing the day of fasting, i have always made sure that i fasted on a busy day. then i wasnt sat around thinking about food. hope your diet is still going well. good luck

    I spaced mine out most of the time and only had them together once or twice (just to try it) I didn’t find that it made any difference which way I did it so go with what suits you.

    Sometimes your body just doesn’t want to lose the weight and so you have to persevere. I had the same problem myself at one point, so don’t lose heart. And don’t forget that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are exercising at the same time, then you might want to measure yourself by body fat or a tape measure instead.     I think ultimately it’s about easing yourself in so if you have to have 600 cals then do that. Ideally 500 is the limit for women though. Hope you are getting on well with it 🙂

    Awesome tips. I just started this program last week. I have been a faster before- just once in a while to clean out a bit. Building on that I find on fast days with this program having a cup of hot low sodium vegetable or other fat free broth gives minimal calories and really takes the edge of the hunger if you are new to this. I actually have boullion cubes in my purse and a special “to go” cup I use at work for moments when I need to take the edge off.

    I am on week 2 of the diet and lost 3lbs in the first week which was great, this week i have gained the 3lbs and back to to the begining…..I have stuck to the diet really well and eaten healthy on my none fasting days, exercised 3 times a week, can you help or suggest where i am going wrong?     Hi, today is my very first fasting day and I have found it a little hard during the middle of the day and I almost snacked, but didn’t I have stuck by it. For breakfast I had scrambled egg and ham and for dinner a chicken drumstick and vegetables. Throughout the day drank water, black tea and sometimes plain boiled water. My fast days are Monday and Thursday. What if on my fast days I had 600 calories would it not work? I am female. Thanks 🙂

    As for the juices…they are really quite high in calories so they are effectively a meal in a glass. I was tending to drink pints of juice and that would be around 500 calories in one go, so I wouldn’t really say that I was dieting or calorie restricting on my non-fast days, I just think that fasting makes you craves more fresh fruit and veg and things that don’t send your blood sugar spiralling. Hope this helps 🙂

    I didn’t really watch wht I ate on non-fast days and as you can see on the written blog, I had things like kebabs etc. A lot of people report that as time goes on the appeal of fatty, sugary foods reduces and I found that too. I think you begin to realise how sluggish your body feels when you eat them so you begin to crave them less. Hence me taking the batter off the fish…the amount of fat would have made me feel sick.

    Hi Tracey. Just wanted to ask if you kept your non fasting days quite restricted also as there are lots of juices instead of meals. Do you think thus had an effect on your weight loss? Did you watch what you ate or did you simply eat less because you were full. I noticed you took the batter off your chip shop fish – was this to be healthy? Infuses my question is – were you dieting even on your non fast days as you didn’t seem to eat much on these days. Many thanks.
